School News View All News Play and Pause Buttons for Slideshow pause play GPLA 21st Century Summer Camp May 6 2024 Registration Link James Madison Fellowship Foundation Mar 27 2024 For Immediate Release Tangipahoa Parish School System Educator Selected as Senior Fellow James Madison Fellowship Foundation Tangipahoa Parish School System educator Mr. John Griffitt has been selected as the 2024 Senior Fellow to the James Madison Foundation. Each year the James Madison Foundation selects one educator from each state who is teaching secondary students in American History, American Government or Civics. Mr. Griffitt was selected in part due to his faithful teaching of Constitution Day, September 17, and his already possessing a Master of Arts in American History. Mr. Griffitt currently teaches at Greenville Park Leadership Academy in the STAR Program under Principal Christopher Smith. Through funding provided by the James Madison Fellowship Foundation, Mr. Griffitt will now pursue a Master of Arts in Constitutional Government, Civics and Law at George Washington University and a second university of his choosing. United States Congressional Representative Julia Letlow (LA-05) called Mr. Griffitt on Wednesday to announce the awarding of the JMF Fellowship and to congratulate his accomplishment. Letlow represents Tangipahoa Parish in the 5th Congressional District. The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation was established by Congress in 1986 to improve teaching about the United States Constitution in secondary schools. The Foundation is an independent agency of the Executive Branch of the federal government. Funding for the Foundation’s programs comes from Congress and generous contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
